Actors, relationships, conflict and emergence (from my piece on Reflective Relational Practice)

Yesterday, I shared a piece that attempted to join some dots, or weave some threads, between different strands of work that I’m doing, on power, incentives and behaviour and on relationships and learning.

That included my work on Reflective Relational Practice, initially done in collaboration with Alexandra Nastase and colleagues at Abt Global, and my work with Kathy Bain, Mushtaq Khan, Pallavi Roy and Duncan Edwards on navigating the political economy of corruption.

I also added to the mix the excellent work on Relational State Capacity that Dan Honig, Mekhala Krishnamurthy and Rahul Karnamadakala Sharma are leading (my highlights and comments, here).

Today - with a dose of nerdy excitement about playing with a new piece of software - I thought I’d share a short video clip of me talking about some of this weaving.

Me, with sub-par editing skills, weaving together a couple of strands of work. Watch on YouTube: Political economy, relationships and learning

This takes advantage of the video of a wonderful call I had last week about systemic and relational approaches to supporting emergence in complex social systems, and composting, prison gardens, and emergent energetic outputs, with Alicia Stammer and three of her colleagues. Thanks to Alicia, Arielle Sullivan, Beth Waitkus, and Tiffany Simpson!

My clip does not weave in the work of Dan Honig and colleagues. Perhaps that’s a sequel :-)

Oh, and if you’d like to take part in a discussion about Reflective Relational Practice on the 8th May, hosted by David Jacobstein, Rachel Leeds, Tjip Walker and other champions of systems practice - and be in the loop for future discussions about local systems - please sign up for the Local Systems Community 2.0, here.
